Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger rehearses for role in Rent 27 July 2010 She's no stranger to performing on stage, but practice still makes perfect for Nicole Scherzinger. The lead singer of the Pussycat Dolls and the latest winner of America's Dancing With The Stars is keeping busy rehearsing for her upcoming role as Maureen in the Los Angeles production of Rent. The 32-year-old performer was spotted heading to rehearsals with an extremely heavy- bound copy of the script under her arm. Dressed casually in grey sweatpants a white tank top and black ballet flats, Nicole looked ready to get down to some serious work. The Tony award-winning musical will be staged at the Hollywood Bowl for three performances only on August 6, 7 and 8 and is being directed by stage and screen star Neil Patrick Harris. While this is Neil's stage directorial debut,he's no stranger to the musical, having starred as Mark in the 1997 American touring production of Rent. 'Nicole had a wonderful audition – she was well prepared, sang beautifully, and had us all laughing. If only she was somewhat attractive and didn’t have two left feet…' Neil said jokingly. Over the years Nicole has certainly proved her versatility. The Pussycat Dolls' 2005 debut album PCD went double-platinum in America, sold over 9 million copies worldwide and had numerous major hits including Don't Cha, Buttons, and Stickwitu. Nicole also released two solo singles. She has toured the world and is constantly pushing the envelope. In 2009, she recorded an adaptation of the AR Rahman song Jai Ho from the film Slumdog Millionaire, which hit #1 in 17 different countries. Nicole also had a short-lived job in the UK last week, filling in as a judge at the boot camp stage of X Factor while regular judge Cheryl Cole was recovering from malaria. However, now that Cheryl, 27, has been cleared to return to her job, Nicole flew back to Los Angeles to start Rent rehearsals. Playing the bisexual role of Maureen will certainly give Nicole's fans a chance to see her in a new light. She also has big shoes to fill, taking on the role that Idina Menzel originated on Broadway. Based on Puccini's La Boheme, Rent is a rock opera that covers one year in the lives of a group of friends struggling to make ends meet in New York's East Village between 1989 and 1990. The story follows the cast through their trials and tribulations as they deal with love, loss and AIDS. Also in the cast are former High School Musical sweetheart Vanessa Hudgens as the HIV positive Mimi, comedian Wayne Brady as Tom and Fame and Stomp the Yard 2 star Collins Pennie as Benny. Daily Mail

Nicole Scherzinger ‘changes ‘X factor’ format’ London, July 25 (ANI): Guest ‘X Factor’ judge Nicole Scherzinger has apparently altered the format of the show within days of joining the panel. After heated talks with Simon Cowell and Louis Walsh, the Pussycat Doll managed to get the age range for the older acts increased from 25 to 28. “Nicole has taken her role very seriously. She’s very fiery and full of ideas,” the Daily Star quoted a show source as saying. While Simon and Louis have six acts to choose from at the judges’ houses stage of the contest, the girls will each have eight acts performing for them. “As they weren’t at the auditions, it was thought only fair to give them more acts to choose from or they could moan they hadn’t a chance of winning,” a source said. Nicole Scherzinger returns to X Factor judging

With Dannii Minogue's pregnancy and subsequent birth and Cheryl Cole's battle with malaria, this year's X Factor has been thrown into chaos. After managing to get through the live auditions with the help of various celebrity guest judges, TV bosses have asked Nicole Scherzinger to return for the boot camp session next week after Mrs Cole was deemed to ill to return. The Pussycat Dolls singer, 32, will join Simon Cowell, 50, and Louis Walsh, 57, at the boot camp auditions next Thursday after previously appearing alongside them at the Manchester auditions last week. While X Factor bosses have managed to secure Scherzinger's presence, they have decided to cancel the live aspect of the boot camp, which was originally scheduled to take place at Wembley Arena. An X Factor spokesman said on the show's Twitter site: 'Nicole Scherzinger will be standing in as a judge at The X Factor Bootcamp next week, alongside Simon Cowell and Louis Walsh. 'Due to the unusual circumstances, we are not inviting an audience to watch the contestants perform at The X Factor boot camp next week.' Originally the guest judges had been brought in to replace Minogue while she was on maternity leave, but Cole's recent illness has complicated matters. It was originally thought just Mrs Cole, Louis Walsh and Simon Cowell would oversee the boot camp part of the show, which sees them whittle down the auditionees to 24 acts in front of a 3,000-strong audience. So while Scherzinger was originally drafted in as a replacement for Minogue, 38, in Manchester, this time she will be stepping in for 27-year-old Cole. Hi all, Bit of a round-up. Firstly some site news, we know the site has been a little slow recently - although our forum has lots of the latest news and views - but myself and Emily have been rushed off our feet in recent weeks, and when life over takes some things sadly have to suffer and the site has suffered a bit. But I've made a few changes and hopefully we'll be back up to full speed too. A brief round-up, its not like the world is bursting with PCD News lately. - Nicole is recording again with RedOne in Spain - the European GP is this weekend, also in Spain, so she might well make an appearance. Is it just me or does the RedOne news not really excite? We already know how it will sound before we've even heard it .... anyway - Nicole's official website has turned into (a very generic) http://www.nicolescherzingermusic.com/ - not sure what we are supposed to read into that, to me its saying "Nicole is doing music, but if its a solo release, or a PCD-style release we aren't that sure yet" ... need to be more decisive Interscope!! - Kim's shoot for Now Magazine is out in the UK now, so those Kim fans make sure you rush out and buy it, we'll get the scans up soon, but its better to buy it to show some support I might have missed some stuff, if I did I'm sorry but I'm so-so-so far out of the PCD Loop at present, I'm trying to catch up!
